Summer 2012: Childhood Memories Made

The end of finals and the temporary closing of school doors signal a brilliant happiness in students worldwide. Failed homework becomes a wisp of a memory, textbooks are tossed, and thus begins the fervent planning of summer events. For college kids, summertime is a nice break from textbooks - but it is also often a time of anxiously seeking out a job (gotta pay those school bills somehow!), and daytime is soaked up by working. However, from the minute that final bell rings, the "stresses" in most kids' lives evaporate for a few months. Summer is a euphoric time for them…

To Lease or to Finance??

The truth is that, until recently, I didn't understand the difference between leasing and purchasing outright. I get that a lease is a short-term contract and that, at the end of it, you have to return the car, like a checked-out book that's due to the library. With purchasing?well, you've purchased the car. It's yours. What I don't get, though, is why some people choose to lease a vehicle instead of just buying it - I mean, who wants to have to return a car after they've just gotten used to it?? No Heat November...Not again, Mom!

The battle between staying warm and saving money commences when the temperature starts to drop. "How Lovely Are Your Branches"

Sundance Film Festival 2006 documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?" follows the creation and subsequent termination of electric cars in the United States in the 1990s. It seeks to discover the answer to a curious concern: "why would we dispose of something so ingenious?" Regardless of whether or not the United States made a mistake by postponing the arrival of a fuel-less, battery run vehicle, such detainment is now a thing of the past.

Thanksgiving, not to be overshadowed by Christmas!

In my opinion, the best holiday of the year is annually overshadowed by the biggest holiday of the year. While Thanksgiving may not produce the breathless anticipation that Christmas does, with it comes the excitement and warm expectation of traditions. Tradition shows its face in a variety of ways during this holiday weekend. For most, it begins with a Turkey dinner followed by lethargic afternoons spent on the couch watching football.

Showing the Essence of Christmas through Toys for Tots

What Christmas traits get you most excited for this time of the year? For some, it's the fact that Christmas season lasts over a month (guilty). Others may most enjoy the music, the festive foods, or the surprised and grateful looks on the faces of gift recipients (also guilty). No matter what devastation or hardship life may bring, Christmas seems like a constant source of joy and hope.
