The truth is that, until recently, I didn't understand the difference between leasing and purchasing outright. Sundance Film Festival 2006 documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?" follows the creation and subsequent termination of electric cars in the United States in the 1990s. It seeks to discover the answer to a curious concern: "why would we dispose of something so ingenious?" Regardless of whether or not the United States made a mistake by postponing the arrival of a fuel-less, battery run vehicle, such detainment is now a thing of the past.
November 17, 2011 marked the second annual "Monte's March", a twenty-six mile walk from King Street in Northampton all the way to Greenfield. Monte, representing the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, pushed a shopping cart the distance of a marathon race to raise hunger awareness in the community. Country Nissan and Country Hyundai were proud sponsors of this event.
I always have a feeling of dread when the leaves have finished falling and the first frost has come. Not only does this mean a chaotic few days of searching high and low for winter clothing, it also means getting out of the house in the morning early enough to start your car, scrape off layers of ice, and get the interior heated up enough to avoid hypothermia.
There are a lot of aspects of stereotypical North American culture that spark vivid
imagery; most of these images take us back in time. For every day family life we may think of the Cleaver family, with Ward Cleaver coming through the front door and greeted by his pristine wife, a picture of perfection with carefully placed pearls and freshly applied lipstick.
I don't know if fall food is more enticing
because of its flavors or if it's because I'm just hungry more often. Either
way, there are countless dishes that I can look forward to enjoying during this
season.
