Throwback Thursday MR. K

July 16th, 2015 by

It’s Thursday, and, being no strangers to social media here at Country Nissan, that means it’s time to get our nostalgia on. For today’s TBT post, check out this tweet from @NissanUSA.

Like the text says, the car pictured is a Datsun 260Z in stunning condition. Even more exciting is that fact that it was once owned by Yutake Katayame, also known as Mr. K, the president of Nissan U.S.A. from 1960 to 1977. Known as the “father of the Z,” Mr. K was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame ten years later. He lived an astonishing 105 years before passing away this past February.
